Airports

There are five main airports in Moscow: Sheremetievo I, Sheremetievo II, Domodedovo, Bykovo, Vnukovo.

Sheremetievo I and II located in 28 km to the northwest of Moscow and in 11 km from Moscow encircling highway.
Sheremetievo-I handles domestic and international flights, Sheremetievo II handles only international flights.
The distance between Sheremetievo I and II is about 5 minutes by car, so it`s better to take minibus #48 or #200M (marshrootka in Russian) if you need to get from one airport to another, because the taxi drivers will try to charge you $50-$100 for that ride, the cost of minibus is around $2. Usually minibuses and buses stop near the exit from the airport, you will need to look for the name in Russian Sheremetievo 1 ("Odeen" in Russian). If you have connected flight it is necessary to go to the Transit kiosk, it is located on the ground level of the airport (you will arrive to the same level). The shuttle bus runs every hour which is not very convenient if you have tight connection.
If you arrive in the day time, most likely you will experience the traffic jam on the way to Moscow. There`s express train between Sheremetievo 2 and metro station "Saviolovskaya". The bus # 851c runs between Sheremetievo 1, 2 and metro station Rechnoy vokzal. The passengers buy the ticket from the driver. When you get in the bus or minibus ask the driver if it goes in the necessary direction. Sheremetievo II is closer to the city than Sheremetievo I and you might get in the bus which goes to the city instead of getting in the one which goes to Sheremetievo I.

Domodedovo is the farthest airport from the center, it handles domestic and international flights. The airport is quite new and it`s nicer comparing to the others. Minibuses and buses go between the airport and metro station Domodedovskaya, the cost is about $2 , also there`s express train that goes to Domodedovskaya and Paveltskaya metro stations, the ride takes about 1 hour, the cost is about $10.

Vnukovo. The airport has two terminals, one handles international flights and indicated as B, another handles domestic flights and indicated as D. The closest metro station to the airport is Yugo-Zapadnaya. Buses # 611 and # 611c and electric train go from the airport to that metro station. Electric train goes from Kievsky railway station to the airport.

Bykovo. The airport is located in 35 km from the center of Moscow. It is the smallest airport and maybe you will never need to go there. It handles only domestic flights. There`s a electric train which goes from the airport to the Kazanskiy railway station.

Saint Petersburg, Pulkovo. The airport has two terminals. Pulkovo 1 handles domestic flights, Pulkovo 2 handles international flights.  The terminals are located in 20 and 17 km to the South from the center of the city. The bus #39 runs between Pulkovo 1 and metro station "Moskovskaya". The trip takes 15-20 minutes. The bus #13 goes between Pulkovo 2 and metro station "Moskovskaya".

Krasnodar Airport is located in 15 km from the center of Krasnodar. It handles domestic and international flights. The buses #1, #15 go to the centre of the city, the trolley-bus #7 and minibus #53 run between the airport and main railway station.

Sochi Airport is located in 30 km from the center of Sochi; it handles domestic and international flights. There are buses and minibuses which go to the different directions from the airport.
